Blotter: Man arrested in connection with possession of a controlled substance

A man was charged in connection with possession of a controlled substance in south Evanston on Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the Shell gas station in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue for a verbal dispute between two men who knew each other prior to the dispute, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. One man was accused of stealing the other man’s eye glasses.

Police checked the suspect’s backpack to look for the glasses and discovered a bag of methamphetamine in the bag, Dugan said. The glasses were not recovered.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Man arrested in connection with domestic battery

A man was arrested in connection with domestic battery in north Evanston on Tuesday.

Officers arrived to an apartment on the 2300 block of Noyes Court for a domestic disturbance, Dugan said. The victim stated she was at her boyfriend’s apartment when a verbal dispute occurred.

The man went into the kitchen, smoked crack cocaine and came back into the bedroom with a knife in his hand, Dugan said. A physical altercation occurred during which the victim was cut with the knife on her forearm. The cut was treated on scene by the Evanston Fire Department.

The man was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
