Blotter: Man arrested in connection with domestic battery

A man was arrested Friday in connection with a domestic battery incident in south Evanston.

The incident occurred on June 18 in the 700 block of Dobson Street, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. A woman got into a verbal altercation with her ex-husband when he became enraged, slammed her against the car and threw her to the ground.

He fled prior to police arrival, Dugan said, but was arrested Friday after domestic violence detectives were assigned to the case.

He was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Chicago man charged with burglary to vehicle

A Chicago man was arrested Saturday in connection with burglary to a vehicle in south Evanston, according to a news release.

Officers observed a man reaching into a taxi through a broken window. When they stopped the man, they found him in possession of two cell phones, $6 in loose change and three white rocks, the release said. A white rock similar to the one in his hand was found in the vehicle.

One of the cell phones the man had in his possession was later found to have been taken from another vehicle in Chicago, the release said.

The man was charged with one count of felony burglary to a vehicle for the Evanston incident. The Chicago incident was turned over to the Chicago Police Department for further investigation.
