Blotter: Chicago man arrested in connection with multiple traffic offenses

A Chicago resident was arrested in connection with multiple traffic-related offenses on Monday in south Evanston.

The man was using a cell phone while driving on Howard Street, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The man was also not wearing a seatbelt.

When the officer pulled the man over, he noticed the man’s license was suspended, Dugan said.

He was charged with using a handheld cellular device, failure to wear a safety belt, expired registration and driving with a suspended license.

Evanston woman arrested in connection with three traffic offenses

On Tuesday morning, an Evanston resident was arrested in connection with three traffic offenses in west Evanston.

The woman was driving on Dodge Avenue near Church Street when an officer stopped her for using a cell phone while driving, Dugan said.

The officer also found that she had no proof of insurance, and she did not have a valid driver’s license, Dugan said. She was then charged with driving while using a handheld device, no valid driver’s license and no proof of auto insurance.
