Police investigated a case of criminal damage that occurred in a residence near campus Tuesday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Garnett Place at about 9:30 a.m. after a building engineer reported that a previous tenant of the building broke a front window in an attempt to gain entry and get her mail, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The 32-year-old Evanston woman fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival, and detectives have been assigned to the case.
The charge depends on the cost of the damage done to the window, Dugan said.
