Armed robber steals cash from Subway shop in downtown Evanston

The Subway shop on Sherman Avenue was robbed Sunday night by a person with a handgun, according to University Police.

An employee, who was the only person present at the time, reported that at about 10:10 p.m. a male subject robbed cash from the store at 1551 Sherman Ave., according to an email from UP. The robber was last seen by the employee fleeing the store northbound on Sherman Avenue. He was reported wearing a gray hoodie and light-colored jeans, the email said.

Evanston Police and UP searched for the robber but did not find him. No injuries were reported, UP said in the email.
