Several anonymous callers reported early Thursday morning hearing about six shots fired on the corner of Dobson Street and Custer Avenue, police said.

Responding officers checked the area around 2:30 a.m. and found no evidence of gunshots, but around 11:45 a.m., a 46-year-old resident of the 700 block of Dobson Street told police he found several shell casings in his backyard, Evanston Police Department spokesman Perry Polinski said.

There was no visible damage from the gunshots, and police currently have no suspects, he added.

A female employee reported Wednesday that her coat and scarf had been stolen from the employee lounge of her place of business, located in the 1000 block of Church Street, police said.

She reported the theft to the business’ security around 8:15 p.m., Polinski said. Security then reported it to EPD and described a possible suspect, he said.
