Following two big losses last week to Purdue and Michigan State, Northwestern dropped out of the AP Top 25 for the first time this season Monday.

The Wildcats (12-4, 1-3 Big Ten) have lost three of their last four games and four of their last six after starting the season with ten straight wins. During its current two-game losing streak, four players — junior forward Nia Coffey, junior guard Ashley Deary, senior guard Maggie Lyon and junior guard Christen Inman — combined for 113 of NU’s 122 points.

Heading into this week, the Cats were ranked No. 16 following an 85-62 win against Nebraska. Additionally, the Cats had been ranked at least No. 20 in every AP poll before this week.

Although NU dropped out of the Top 25, it received 58 votes, the highest total for a non-ranked team.

The Cats may have difficulty re-entering the Top 25 this week, as they face No. 5 Ohio State on Thursday and No. 8 Maryland on Sunday.
