Menorah vandalized outside north Evanston hospitality facility

Police are investigating a damaged menorah outside a hospitality facility on Central Street.

All of the bulbs and lighting fixtures on the menorah were broken off some time between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The menorah was outside a facility at 1022 Central St. run by Chicago Mitzvah Campaign, a Jewish community service organization. The facility, located near Evanston Hospital, provides accommodations for visitors during Shabbat and other Jewish holidays.

Police are seeking surveillance video to identify the vandals from nearby locations such as the Chicago Transit Authority station on Central Street, Dugan said.
