A man was robbed Tuesday night by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend while walking in south Evanston.

The 18-year-old Evanston man reported to police on Thursday, two days after the incident, that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend punched him on the side of his head and stole his iPhone, said Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. The man told police he was walking in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue on Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m. when the man robbed him.

The man who was punched had bruising around his left eye, Dugan said. The stolen iPhone is valued at about $300.

Burglar steals technology from Evanston home

About $450 worth of possessions were stolen Wednesday afternoon from the Evanston residence of a Northwestern employee.

The 27-year-old man told police unknown individuals entered his locked apartment in the 1200 block of Emerson Street some time between noon and 7:40 p.m., Dugan said. The burglar entered the residence by lifting up the window screen, which was left unlocked, he said.

He told police his Amazon Kindle, Bluetooth speakers, cell phone charger and iPad Mini were missing.
