Motorcycle hits two cars in south Evanston

A 44-year-old man crashed his motorcycle Thursday morning in south Evanston, closing the area to traffic for about 45 minutes.

The Chicago resident was riding north on Chicago Avenue at about 8:15 a.m. when he rear-ended a car in front of him, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The impact of the crash propelled the motorcycle into the opposite lane, causing it to hit another car traveling southbound.

The man — who was wearing a helmet — was found unconscious and taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital, 355 Ridge Ave., for treatment, where doctors found no significant injuries, Dugan said.

Police closed the area of Chicago Avenue between South Boulevard and Howard Street until they confirmed that the man was not injured and officers would not need to investigate the scene further, he said.
