The man with the gun left the apartment without shooting and has not been apprehended, Dugan said.

Battery reported in downtown church

An Evanston man reported a battery on Sunday afternoon at a church in downtown Evanston, police said.

The man told officers an acquaintance pulled him backward during a verbal dispute while the two were in a church in the 1700 block of Benson Avenue, Dugan said. The man reported the incident about an hour later but told police he didn’t want to press charges.
