Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips has been “targeted” for Michigan’s vacant athletic director position, ESPN reported Saturday.

The Wolverines athletic director Dave Brandon resigned Friday amid controversy.

Phillips, who has been at NU since 2008, recently served as athletic director chair of the Big Ten. He has been a rumored candidate for several previous job openings, most recently at Penn State.
