Street Style Inspiration: Tall boots and short dresses

Kendall Siewert, Columnist

WHO: Teresa Balistreri, Medill freshman

WHAT: A sundress with cream trim, a turquoise necklace and tall brown boots

WHERE: In the sorority quad

WHY: I love the look of tall boots with a shorter dress. Maybe it’s because I’m from the South, but there’s something about the juxtaposition of the two that works really well together for me. Also, the lace trim on that dress was just too adorable to resist.

THE BREAKDOWN: As the weather gets warmer, the outfits get simpler. It’s so easy to look chic just by throwing on a dress and a few accessories that aren’t your winter coat and scarf. Teresa bases her outfit around her cap-sleeve sundress with a subtle print and a ruffle hem. Though the ruffle adds a playful dimension to the dress, it also makes it a little longer to provide more modesty for daytime. She pairs it with a turquoise necklace, tall brown boots and easy waves. For a more downtown take on the look, try a geometric necklace and shorter lace up boots to give it some edge.
