An Asus laptop, cell phone, MP3 player, keys and a backpack were taken from the house of a 46-year-old Evanston resident in the 700 block of Judson Avenue, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

Police said someone used a blue stepladder to access a room through a window, forcing the window open by removing its screen. No suspects have been identified in the case.

Brothers arrested for underage drinking

Two young men were arrested in connection with unlawful alcohol consumption and one was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in south Evanston on Tuesday afternoon.
