Police find more than 200 grams of pot in drug bust

Police arrested an Evanston man Thursday morning in connection with a drug bust that netted about 230 grams of marijuana.

The Evanston Police Department’s Special Operations Group also found a handgun and more than $1,500 in suspected drug money after executing a search warrant at about 6 a.m. in the 1500 block of Dodge Avenue, according to EPD.

Martez Truesdell, 22, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful use of a firearm. Truesdell, of the 1500 block of Dodge Avenue, is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 25.

Truesdell lives across the street from Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave.

Police said Thursday was the second consecutive day they served a warrant for illegal drug sales. Truesdell’s arrest was not related to the warrant executed Wednesday.
