Northwestern extends men’s tennis coach Arvid Swan’s contract through 2017

Men’s tennis coach Arvid Swan has signed a contract extension through the 2017 season, Northwestern announced Wednesday.

Under Swan, the Wildcats have played twice in a row in the NCAA Tournament, wining a thrilling game against No. 19 Wake Forest in last season’s first-round appearance. Swan has an 83-75 record in six seasons as NU’s coach and led the team to the postseason three times.

“It is truly an honor to be the head coach of the men’s tennis program,” Swan said in a news release. “I feel fortunate to coach such outstanding student-athletes and work with a great assistant coach in Chris Klingemann. We will continue to work hard on a daily basis to help the team achieve excellence in the classroom and on the court.”

Swan’s contract was the final of seven extensions the University announced this month.
