Chicago man charged with threatening to blow up Evanston civic center, police department

Evanston police on Thursday arrested a Chicago man who, angry over a parking ticket, allegedly threatened to blow up two city buildings.

Vincente L. Alford, 33, called Evanston Police Department four times Wednesday morning and threatened to bomb the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center and EPD headquarters, police say. Alford received a parking ticket earlier that day, which likely prompted the threats, according to police.

Alford, who lives in the 7500 block of North Claremont Avenue, faces two counts of transmitting threats via telephone. He is scheduled to appear in court May 29.
