Evanston collects flood damage data

Evanston is collecting data on damage from last week’s flood from residents and businesses, the city announced Tuesday.

Affected residents and business owners need to complete a short survey about their losses. The city will submit the data to Cook County, which is asking the federal government to declare the county federal disaster area. The information will help the county establish its eligibility for federal assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. If the county succeeds, individual property owners could receive federal aid. However, the information collected does not determine whether a resident or business owner will receive such assistance in the future.

The deadline for residents to submit their flood damage information to the city is 3 p.m. Friday. Residents and business owners can complete the survey at https://cityofevanston.wufoo.com/forms/city-of-evanston-cook-county-flood-survey/.
