Evanston Police responded to a call of battery at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Dodge Avenue.

Two young men approached a male Evanston resident, 18, outside a convenience store near the intersection of Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue, EPD Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. One of the men punched the resident in the face with a closed fist. The pair attempted but was unable to take the resident’s Apple iPhone. The resident believes they did take his earphones, which are valued at approximately $20. The resident sustained a small cut underneath his top lip. The robbers were believed to be about 18 years old.
