Goldsmiths College: Weaver death not suspicious

The death of Weinberg junior Alyssa Weaver does not appear to be suspicious, Goldsmiths College said in a statement this morning.

Weaver, 20, died Wednesday while studying abroad at Goldsmiths, which is part of the University of London.

“It is with deep sadness that we can confirm the death of a student from Goldsmiths, University of London. Lewisham Police are investigating the matter but do not believe the circumstances to be suspicious,” Goldsmiths said in the statement. “The student’s family have been informed and we will be offering counselling to fellow students and staff. We are not able to release any additional information at this time.”

Northwestern notified its students of Weaver’s death in a campus-wide email Friday night.

“The loss of one of our students affects all of us who are members of the Northwestern community,” wrote Patricia Telles-Irvin, vice president for student affairs.
