Monday, Oct. 22

What: Richard Leopold Lecture: Juan Cole
When: 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.
Where: Harris Hall
Cost: Free

As the Richard Leopold Lecturer, Juan Cole will talk about “Obama, Romney and the Greater Middle East.”

Tuesday, Oct. 23

What: An Evening with Cory Booker
When: Seating starts at 6:30 p.m., speech begins at 7 p.m.
Where: Cahn Auditorium
Cost: Free

Cory Booker, mayor of Newark, N.J., will talk about “How to Change the World with your Bare Hands” on Tuesday.

Wednesday, Oct. 24

What: Homecoming Talent Show
When: 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: McCormick Auditorium, Norris University Center
Cost: $5 for regular admission, $3 for members of the class of 2013

Members of the Homecoming Court and other NU performance groups will entertain at the talent show, where the audience members get to decide the winner. Homecoming is sponsoring many other events throughout the week, including a screening of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” Tuesday night, a Food Truck Festival on Wednesday night, and, of course, the Homecoming Parade on Friday.

Thursday, Oct. 25

What: The Verona Project
When: 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Josephine Louis Theater
Cost: $10 at the door, $5 in advance

Based on William Shakespeare’s “The Two Gentleman of Verona,” “The Verona Project” is a new version with indie-folk-rock music. The show runs through Nov. 4.

Friday, Oct. 26

On Campus
What: Matt Stewart book signing for “The Walk-On: Inside Northwestern’s Rise from Cellar Dweller to Big Ten Champ”
When: 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive
Cost: Free

Meet former NU football player Matt Stewart, who played alongside coach Pat Fitzgerald, and get a copy of his book signed Friday afternoon.

In Evanston

What: Antje Duvekot and Red Wanting Blue at Evanston SPACE
When: Antje Duvekot at 7 p.m. and Red Wanting Blue at 9:30 p.m.
Where: Evanston SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave.
Cost: $12 to $20 for Antje Duvekot and $15 for Red Wanting Blue

Antje Duvekot, a singer songwriter, performs alongside Michael McDermott at Evanston SPACE. Later, Red Wanting Blue will take the stage with War Poets.

In Chicago

What: 2012 Latino Music Festival
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: Fullerton Hall, Art Institute of Chicago, 111 S. Michigan Ave.
Cost: Free

As part of the Latino Music Festival, which runs through December, Goran Ivanovic will perform with members of the Lincoln Trio.

Saturday, Oct. 27

In Evanston

What: Fall Fest at Downtown Evanston Farmers’ Market
When: 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Intersection of University Place and Oak Avenue
Cost: Free

Free arts and crafts, vendors in Halloween costumes and pumpkin decorating make Fall Fest at the Farmers’ Market a fun and festive event.

In Chicago

What: Pumpkins in the Park 5K
When: 5 p.m.
Where: Lincoln Park South Field House, 1800 N. Stockton Drive
Cost: $30

Take part in a spooky 5K through Lincoln Park on Saturday afternoon. After the race, there will be a screening of “Ghostbusters” and a contest for best original costume, best zombie costume and best dead celebrity costume.

Sunday, Oct. 28

On campus

What: Festival LatiNU
When: 5 p.m.
Where: Louis Room, Norris University Center
Cost: Free

Celebrate with the Hispanic/Latino Student Affairs and the Hispanic/Latino Student Alliance with live music, a DJ and lots of food at Festival LatiNU.

Near Evanston

What: Tierra Colombiana Folkloric Dance Company
When: 10:30 a.m. to noon
Where: Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, 7574 N. Lincoln Ave. in Skokie
Cost: Free

Listen to Ibeth Donado, Caterina Oliveri and Edwin Suarez, artistic directors for the dance company, share the history of Colombian dance. The group will perform some dances as well.
