Phone stolen from car while owner slept

An Evanston resident’s car was broken into at a parking lot located on the 1300 block of Howard Street while he was still inside the car.

The man was sleeping in the backseat Thursday at around 3 p.m. when an unknown person opened the unlocked door and stole his Samsung Galaxy S 2 smartphone as well as the car charger and then fled down an alley on foot. The thief is unknown but was described to be wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, Parrott said.
