TV Review: ‘Mad Men’ season premiere features old characters with new attitudes

The long-awaited premiere of the fifth season of “Mad Men” felt almost like a pilot. Not that anyone was particularly different, but more that many characters seemed to be starting fresh or changing direction in their lives. The year is 1966 and the show chose to highlight the civil rights movement. This has been touched on in previous seasons, but judging from this episode, it will carry more weight this season. The premiere resolved many cliffhangers from the previous season, and you better believe they have been hanging a while (over 17 months).

This episode seemed to focus on everyone’s insecurities
