The world’s favorite spy is back in action! Skyfall, the 23rd installment of the James Bond series, began filming on Monday. Daniel Craig will return to play the British agent opposite Javier Bardem as the film’s main villain. Though the actors have changed throughout the nearly 50 years of James Bond, one thing has remained the same – the suit. It is almost guaranteed that any Bond film will feature the spy in a perfectly tailored suit or tuxedo. Take note, gentlemen, and you will be dressed to kill at your next formal event.
The bowtie: In Casino Royale, Daniel Craig wore a basic black bowtie and looked quite debonair while doing so. Yes, bowties err on the side of looking like a waiter, but as long as your suit is well fitted, I promise it will look completely timeless.
The three-piece suit: Sean Connery is to thank for making the three-piece suit wildly popular after Goldfinger. If you’re tired of the basic black suit, give Connery’s three-piece gray suit a shot. Pair it with a solid colored tie for a very traditional British look.
The patterned suit and tie: Bond isn’t afraid of anything – including patterns. Try a striped or checked suit in gray, navy or brown. If you’re feeling extra bold, pair it with a patterned tie a la Pierce Brosnan in Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies. It’s an easy way to stand out at your next cocktail bash.
The tux: Seriously. It’s never too soon to invest in one.
