Evanston resident’s laptop, cell phone stolen from secured locker

A person stole over $800 worth of goods from a locker inside L.A. Fitness on Monday evening, Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said.

Police responded to a call made by a 32-year-old man at the gym, 1618 Sherman Ave.. Guenther said the man who called is affiliated with Northwestern.

Guenther said the man claimed a laptop, cell phone and small amount of cash were stolen from the locker, which was locked prior to the theft.

It is not known how the thief entered the locker, Guenther said. The laptop costs $600 and the cell phone costs $200. The thief took about $20.

There is no description or potential identity of the thief, Guenther said.
