Blotter 1/13: NU football alum, ex-Chicago Bears player, arrested for DUI

NU football alum, ex-Chicago Bears player, arrested for DUI

Evanston police arrested Northwestern All-American football player and former Chicago Bears player Mike Adamle early Monday morning for driving under the influence.

Police stopped Adamle at the intersection of Main Street and Judson Avenue. They brought him to the Evanston police station around 1 a.m. Monday after he failed a sobriety test, Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said.

Alluding to media reports of Adamle’s alleged “erratic behavior” at the police station, Guenther said such behavior after a DUI arrest is not uncommon.

Adamle is due in court Feb. 14 in Skokie.

Police arrest three Evanston men after following footprints

Three Evanston men were arrested Tuesday afternoon after police followed a trail of footprints to arrest them, police said.

A witness saw the men running from a residence on the 800 block of Hartrey Avenue at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday, with one of the men carrying a television, according to an Evanston police press release.

Evanston police arrived at the scene and followed a trail of snow footprints to a home on the 2200 block of Madison Street. Once inside the home, police heard noises in the attic and engaged in a conversation with the men. They surrendered and police arrested them, Guenther said.

Two of the men, 18-year-old Michael Smith of 1633 McDaniel Ave. and 18-year-old Jamir Johnson of 2209 Madison St., were each charged with one count of felony residential burglary and will be tried in early February in the 2nd District Court in Skokie. The third man, a 16-year-old, will be tried for residential burglary in juvenile court.
