Someone took quarters from the washing machines in a residential Evanston building Thursday night, police said.
Although the machines’ coin boxes had been pried open, there were no signs of forced entry to the building on the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue, Guenther said. But by 7 a.m., five washing machines in the building’s basement had been vandalized.
An unknown number of quarters was missing from the machines, he said.
