It is testimony to the success of the course and Professor Protess that students who have graduated and moved on with their lives have banded together to remind us all what’s at stake here. A man who is arguably innocent continues to sit in prison for more than 30 years-30 years-as this petty spectacle plays out. We are all better than this. If prosecutors believe that Anthony McKinney is guilty and that the evidence the students produced is not credible, please proceed with the hearing and dispel the understandable suspicion in the community that yet another man is being incarcerated wrongly to the shame of all of us.
