Woman trips on rug, hurts knee in Frances Searle

A woman fell Monday at 2 p.m. in the Frances Searle Building, 2240 Campus Drive, injuring her knee, University Police Cmdr. Darren Davis said. The woman told police she was walking in the second-floor atrium when she tripped on a rug and fell to her knees, Davis said. When she tried to stand up, she felt something crack in her knee, she told police. The woman declined ambulance assistance and rode to Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., in a friend’s car, Davis said.

Senior citizen reports April 25 fall in NU parking lot

A senior citizen told police Monday he tripped on a curb on the lower level of NU’s South Campus parking structure April 25, Davis said.

The man said the fall broke his glasses and injured his face and hands, Davis said. He had been on his way to a concert at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall.

After the fall, the man had marks under both his eyes and a bump on his forehead, Davis said. His wife transported him to Evanston Hospital, and the man reported the incident because he is still sore, Davis said.

Local’s bike stolen outside Evanston Public Library

An Evanston resident reported a stolen bicycle to the police Monday, Evanston Police Department Cmdr. James Elliot said.

The complainant reported she secured her Univega 10-speed bike in front of the main branch of the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., at 6 p.m., Elliot said. When she returned at 9 p.m., she discovered the bike, the chain and the lock were gone from the bike rack. The bike was valued at $100.

“There was no indication that the rack itself was bothered,” Elliot said. “We can suppose they cut the lock off.”

No witnesses could be found, and there are no suspects or leads, Elliot said.
