Man shot outside of ETHS

An Evanston Township High School alumnus was shot outside the school Friday evening and survived, police said.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9 p.m. behind ETHS, 1600 Dodge Ave. Three suspects approached the victim and started a verbal confrontation that turned violent,

Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said. One of the suspects shot the 18-year-old victim in the abdomen and the three suspects fled the scene.

Evanston paramedics transported the victim to Saint Francis Hospital, 355 Ridge Ave., where he was treated for his non-life-threatening injury.

A minor from Lincolnwood turned himself in at a police station Saturday. Investigators later confirmed this suspect shot the victim, police said.

The Cook County State’s Attorney has charged the suspect with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm. The other suspects are still being investigated in the case, police said.

Body found may be missing Evanston woman

Police believe a body found at Starved Rock State Park, Ill., may be that of a missing Evanston woman, Guenther said.

The woman, 53-year-old Theresa Hunt, has been missing since Jan. 29, police said.

Police can’t confirm the body is Hunt’s until the medical examiner’s report is released, Guenther said.
