Blotter: Tech streakers, drunk student, store robbed at gunpoint

6 painted men streak past Tech, 1 vomitsSix men ran without any clothes past the Technological Institute on Friday afternoon, police said.Officers on patrol saw the six men, five of whom were Northwestern students, run onto Tech Drive around 4:40 p.m. Friday, said University Police Deputy Chief Dan McAleer. None of them was wearing any clothes. McAleer said he heard the men were painted head to toe in purple.Police stopped the men, who told police a lost bet led to their streaking.While police stopped the men, one student began to vomit, McAleer said. The student told police he may have contracted the H1N1 virus from a family member.Student Affairs and Student Health Service were notified. All six men were issued Evanston municipal code violations for indecent exposure.

Drunk student takes shots, sent to hospitalEvanston Fire and Life-Safety Services took an NU student to the hospital after she consumed nine shots of vodka Saturday morning, police said.Police responded to a call at 12:12 a.m. Saturday about an intoxicated student at the Sigma Alpha Iota sorority house, 720 Emerson St., McAleer said. The student was unable to speak or remain conscious.She told another student she had consumed nine shots of vodka in less than an hour, McAleer said.The 19-year-old student was taken to Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave. Police reported her to Student Affairs.

Grocery store robbed at gunpoint ThursdayA man armed with a handgun robbed a grocery store Thursday afternoon, police said.A man in his mid-30s with a scarf covering half of his face threatened the owner of Hanan Finer Foods, 1942 Maple Ave., with a gun around 12:50 p.m. Thursday, said Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther.The man took cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets before leaving southbound on Maple Avenue, Guenther said.Guenther said no one was hurt.Police are still investigating.
