Blotter: staff member hospitalized, locked bike stolen

NU staff member taken to hospitalA Northwestern staff member was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning, police said.A staff member in Information Technology, 1800 Sherman Ave., felt nauseous and vomited around 10:30 a.m., said University Police Deputy Chief Dan McAleer.An ambulance arrived, and paramedics evaluated the woman, McAleer said. She was taken to Skokie Hospital in Skokie.

Locked bike stolen from sorority quadsAn NU student’s bicycle was stolen from outside a sorority house Tuesday, police said.The student had locked her bicycle with a U-shaped lock outside Kappa Delta sorority house, 711 University Place, around 1 p.m., McAleer said. When she returned 45 minutes later, the bike was missing.The student told police she did not see anyone suspicious in the area.The student was unable to provide a serial number for her bicycle, a maroon 2004 Specialized Expedition, McAleer said. Police will continue investigating when she provides the serial number, he said.– KATIE PARK
