Reproductive research funded by W.M. Keck

A three-year, $1.6 million grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation was awarded to Northwestern University in order to support reproductive science research. Research will focus on the understanding of biological and chemical signaling surrounding early embryonic development and fertilization.

A team of Northwestern researchers will try to determine the critical roles that molecules like zinc inhabit in signal processing. The team is led by Thomas O’Halloran, Charles I. and Emma H. Morrison Professor in Chemistry in the Weinberg College of Arts and Science, and Teresa K. Woodruff, Thomas J. Watkins Memorial Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Feinberg School of Medicine.
