Cats Take Doubles Point But Fall To No. 4 Mississippi 5-2 At The Combe Tennis Center (Men’s Tennis)

Northwestern took the early lead against No. 4 Mississippi after the duo of Marc Dwyer and Alex Sanborn won 9-8 in the deciding doubles match.

But Ole Miss was too much in singles at the Combe Tennis Center on Wednesday night, as the Rebels won five of six singles matches to earn the 5-2 victory.

After the Wildcats fell in No. 3 doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Willy Lock and Matt Christian won 8-5 to even the match. Then came the tiebreak victory at No. 2 doubles to give the Cats the doubles point and early lead.

But the highly-ranked Rebels rebounded in singles, as they won four of five matches in straight sets.

Senior Christian Tempke earned the Cats’ lone singles win 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.
