Carmody Inks Two Local Recruits For Next Season (Men’s Basketball)

Carmody inks two local recruits for next season

Northwestern signed two area recruits to National Letters of Intent on Monday. Michael Thompson of Chicago and Mike Capocci of Glenbard, Ill., become the first members of NU coach Bill Carmody’s recruiting class for next season.

The signings increase the number of Chicago-area players expected on the 2007-08 roster to eight and the total number of Chicago-area signees in the last four years to five.

Thompson, a 5-foot-10 point guard, averaged 19 points, seven assists and five steals at Lincoln Park High School. He garnered fourth team All-City last season and is rated the No. 10 prospect in Illinois by Chicagohoops.com.

Capocci, a 6-foot-6 forward, averaged 20 points and nine rebounds and was named the DuPage Valley Player of the Year his junior year.
