Katie Wright has waited a year for this weekend’s road trip to Indiana.
The native Hoosier will get to have a home-cooked meal with her team at her parent’s house, play in front of friends and family at Purdue and Indiana and, most importantly, show up some of her old teammates.
“I look forward to this weekend every year,” Wright said. “It’s the biggest weekend of the year for me.”
Wright said she has kept in touch with many of her former high school teammates from Greenwood, Ind. and club teammates for the Carmel (Ind.) Cobras who now play for the Boilermakers or Hoosiers. Though she said she enjoys watching them excel in college, she does not want their success to come at the Wildcats’ expense.
“You always check how you’re friends are playing and hope they’re doing well, but you want to beat them more than anyone else,” Wright said.
