Heavy rain in the area washed out Thursday’s action in the Big Ten softball tournament at Sharon J. Drysdale Field, including No. 1 Northwestern’s game against eighth-seeded Illinois.
First-round games will commence at 9 a.m. today when No. 2-seed Michigan and No. 7-seed Michigan State square off. The Wildcats’ matchup against the Illini will follow at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The semifinals, originally schedule to be played this afternoon, will now begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the championship game following at approximately 2 p.m.
With a 70-percent chance of precipitation today and a 60 percent chance on Saturday, according to The Weather Channel, the tournament schedule may have to be altered again because of poor playing conditions.
