Director of city finances to take position at ETHS
Bill Stafford, the director of finances for the City of Evanston, will be leaving his position to become the business manager at Evanston Township High School.
Stafford will take over the position mid- March. He will oversee business and financial affairs, including the school budget.
“We are very fortunate to leave the district in such good hands for such a critical matter,” District 202 Superintendent Allan Alson said at the Jan. 23 ETHS school board meeting. “He is good at providing factual analysis and building relationships.”
Stafford will replace Gerald Leibforth, the interim business manager who has been filling the position temporarily.
Stafford, whose children graduated from ETHS, said at the Jan. 23 meeting that he was honored to assume the position.
Stafford said his parents worked in education and the new position will be “a homecoming from a personal point of view.”
Stafford has worked in the city’s financial department for eight years. City officials are now looking for a replacement, said Gwendolyn Veasey, the intern assistant to the city manager.
