Funds dispersed to groups near requests

Student groups asked for less supplemental funding from Associated Student Government this year. Conservative requests allowed Student Activities Finance Board to meet a greater portion of requests than last year, said David Kim, ASG’s financial vice president and SAFB chairman.

Student group leaders first saw SAFB’s recommendations when funding booklets were passed out at Wednesday’s Senate meeting. Twenty-two student groups applied for funding, requesting a total of about $292,600. SAFB recommended about $183,600.00.

A&O Productions asked for the most money, requesting about $114,400 to fund their main concert event in the spring, the A&O Ball. SAFB recommended $75,000.

At next Wednesday’s Senate meeting, student groups can appeal the recommendations and the Senate will vote on the distribution of money.
