Grade: C
Occasionally a movie arrives in theaters that promises to scare its audience senseless — to redefine the genre of supernatural thriller by touching upon our deepest fears and probing unfamiliar, ethereal topics that perhaps warrant no concrete explanation in this life. “White Noise” holds back in none of these claims; but instead of instilling fear, the picture merely causes one to consider why he or she paid full price to explore a man’s obsession with static.
The concept of the movie is creative but poorly executed. Michael Keaton provides a believable portrayal of heartbroken and despondent Jonathan Rivers, a man whose whole life begins to fall apart after the mysterious death of his wife, Anna (Chandra West).
