Professors think students should study 25 to 30 hours a week, a national survey reported last week. Yet, only 11 percent of the 163,000 students surveyed actually spend that much time preparing for class.
The National Survey of Student Engagement, released last Monday, found that 44 percent of students at the 472 colleges and universities surveyed reported studying 10 hours or less per week — one-third as many hours as faculty say they should.
