It’s the same old girl-meets-bar story, with a twist. Girl pays $5 cover charge (more on weekends). Girl enters bar with small group of friends. Girl buys overpriced beer, stores coat at overpriced coat check, and … rides on mechanical bull?
Welcome to Hogs and Honeys, where bars are for dancing on top of. Located on the Red Line at North and Clybourn, it’s a rowdy place frequented by Northwestern folk adventurous enough to brave the bras hanging from the rafters. And yes, there’s a mechanical bull for the ridin’, but men beware: The bull operator is notoriously harder on cowboys than he is on cowgirls.
Expect crowd-pleasing tunes (More “Sweet Home Alabama” than “In da Club”), cowboy hats, drunken brides-to-be and full body contact — by 11 p.m., this place is packed.
Hogs and Honeys, 1555 N. Sheffield Ave., is open from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday.
