ASG sports fee rips off uninterested students

With all due respect to Associated Student Government Sen. Sara Whitaker, I would rather spend $25 this year on a dinner for two at Flat Top Grill than pay for a “blanket” sports fee as proposed by her bill.

Maybe she’ll join me for said meal?

I know Whitaker well. She is a good friend of mine, and I know her heart is in the right place. But I would feel completely ripped off if I were forced to pay this money.I never attend Northwestern sports events, with the exception of the occasional already-free baseball game when Whitaker asks me to accompany her.

With NUTV you at least have the choice of not living on campus and subjecting yourself to the mandatory charges. This sports fee, however, would be unavoidable. If people want to go to sports games, let them pay the cost. If people don’t want to go, they should not be financially penalized.
