A $3,300 computer was stolen from an Evanston business last week, police said.
An employee at Conifer Research, 818 Dempster St., told police that between Jan. 28 and Thursday, an unknown thief took a silver Apple Titanium laptop computer, said Cmdr. Michael Perry of Evanston Police Department. The theft is still under investigation.
Late-shift theater employee finds car missing after work
An employee working the night shift at Century Theatres found his car had been stolen Thursday morning, police said.
The employee told police he parked his green 1994 Toyota Tercel in the alley behind the movie theater, 1715 Maple Ave., after midnight Thursday morning, Perry said. When he left work at 9 a.m. his car was missing. The theft is still under investigation.
Vandals paint Jewish symbol, offensive slogan on garages
Five Evanston residents found graffiti damage to their property Friday morning, police said.
The vandals spray-painted red words, letters and symbols on three garage doors and two cars, Perry said.
A resident of the 1300 block of Asbury Avenue told police a Jewish star was spray- painted on the house’s garage door, along with the words “Kikes Rule,” Perry said.
Residents of the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue and the 1300 block of Greenwood Street also reported graffiti damage to their garage doors.
One car on the 1700 block of Wesley Avenue had both license plates painted red, Perry said. The other car was owned by a resident of the 1500 block of Asbury Avenue, Perry said.
Perry said all five incidents remained under investigation Monday night.
