Both tennis teams will learn NCAA tournament fate today

The Northwestern tennis teams will find out today if they have been selected for the NCAA tournament.

The 64-team fields will be announced at 6 p.m. in an Internet broadcast, and both Wildcats squads will watch on a computer in a conference room at Harold Anderson Hall.

The men’s team, which was snubbed in 2001 despite making the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament, currently sits at No. 45 nationally and is led by newly crowned Big Ten Freshman of the Year Tommy Hanus.

The women’s team is ranked No. 15, putting it on the cusp of hosting a four-team regional.

The top 16 seeds are given home-court advantage through the first two rounds.
