The Northwestern wrestling team will host its own edition of Friday night fights in Welsh-Ryan Arena at 7 p.m. tonight against Penn State.
The Nittany Lions will bring eight starters from last year’s squad, which placed 25th at NCAAs. The Wildcats (7-8, 0-3 Big Ten) will be led by senior John Giacche, the No. 17 141-pound wrestler in this week’s InterMat Wrestling rankings.
NU is trying to rebound from losses last weekend to No. 3 Iowa and No. 14 Illinois, while Penn State (4-6, 1-0) comes to Evanston having won its only conference tilt, a 26-9 victory over Indiana.
Last year’s match in Happy Valley saw the Nittany Lions knock off the Cats 22-10.
