Anti-abortion group targets college campuses with ads
Beware, feminists!
The group Feminists For Life of America is targeting college campuses with their “Putting a Face on Choice” campaign, which features placing ads in many college newspapers across the United States.
The anti-abortion group’s ad implies women are being pushed into abortion because they lack the resources to raise a child or because they feel they have to choose between their education, career and abortion.
It’s true, many women face these choices in their lives, and many do not have the time or resources to raise a child.
Of course this is a problem that needs to be fixed, and feminists are fighting to eradicate these problems.
This does not mean, however, that abortion rights should be taken away.
No woman should be forced into having an abortion, and no woman should be forced into continuing an unwanted pregnancy.
That’s what abortion rights activism is all about: Women making informed, autonomous decisions about reproduction. Eliminating abortion rights will only make the oppression of women worse. How can a feminist support the oppression of women?
Don’t be fooled. Feminists For Lifers are not true feminists. They are only interested in preserving the rights of the fetus and not the women.
They need to rename their campaign “Putting a Spin on Fetalism.”
