Letters to the editor

Monday’s endorsement of Al Gore was simply shameful. Throughout this quarter the opinions on the Forum page have been left-leaning. But to see such a childish, senselessly alarmist polemic presented as a serious endorsement was appalling.
Particularly sophomoric was the apparent characterization of Bush’s philosophy of decentralization as “some rich third grader’s wish list for a libertarian Disneyland.” Isn’t it a little silly to threaten that decreasing the government’s role in our lives will result in “sheer horror” when throughout the 20th century, the world’s greatest horrors were committed by countries experimenting with highly socialized, regulated economies?
And was the author actually suggesting that Bush’s leadership would lead to some sort of mass death in the United States?
