Police Blotter: Evanston man reports stolen bike

Evanston police are investigating a bicycle burglary that occurred between Tuesday at 10 p.m. and Wednesday at 10 a.m. in south Evanston.

The victim, a 64-year-old man, told police the suspect entered late at night through an unlocked garage door, said Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. A bike worth over $1,000 and loose change worth approximately $5 were missing.

Two bikes stolen from McGaw YMCA

Evanston police are investigating the theft of two bicycles at the McGaw YMCA, 1000 Grove St., on Wednesday.

The bikes were taken between 7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dugan said.

Officers were called to the scene at 9:25 p.m. The two bikes, belonging to Evanston residents, were missing. Both bike locks were broken, Dugan said.

One bike was worth approximately $100 and the other was a mountain bike worth more than $700 dollars, Dugan said.
