A 32-year-old man was shot in central Evanston on Wednesday night when a car drove by while he was sitting in his own vehicle.

The man told police his car was parked in the 1800 block of Leland Avenue when a gold vehicle pulled up next to him at about11:20 p.m. A man in the gold vehicle asked the Evanston resident his name then shot his gun twice, striking the man in the parked car in the neck, police said. The man in the gold vehicle then fled west on Emerson Street.

A passenger in the man’s vehicle drove him to Evanston Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
